Importance of Strategic Communication

Many people think that communication is not important & can do without it. But as we all know; communication is vital to thrive at work and home. Strategic communication plays a big part in any company which depends on cooperation between individuals, therefore you will pass through the gates of success if you do not possess this skill.

What is Strategic Communication?

Strategic communication is something that has been ignored for a long time. There’s a good reason why it’s been under the radar. It is the art, science, and practice of creating, communicating, and exchanging information in ways that build trust, credibility, and credibility.

Strategic communication is a plan that helps you reach your goal. It’s an essential part of any business or organization. Strategic communication involves more than just reading internal documents and distributing them to employees who aren’t part of the main target audience. Instead, strategic communication includes all the things you do (and don’t do) to get your message across to different audiences.

Why is strategic communication important in business?

Strategic communication involves creating a thought process to drive your organization’s overall goals. This strategic communication can be utilized in various ways:

  • Coming up with business plans and developing organizational strategies.
  • Executing an internal communication plan that meets a company’s objectives.
  • Partnering with other organizations to engage the public, or coordinating team efforts to create a coordinated presentation.

In the modern age, the role of social media is too important. Getting likes and more followers don’t do anything if they are not contributing toward the business goals.

Strategic communication is essential as it influences customers and promotes products and services if done the right way.

Barriers to strategic communication

There are a lot of barriers that come about in strategic communication. The most common being those of the emotional, physical and verbal variety. We want to talk about what these barriers are, how they prevent us from communicating effectively, and how we can overcome them. There are three main barriers : emotional, physical, and language barriers.

  1. Emotional Barriers:

Social psychological research has shown that people often have a negative attitude toward new products or services. This is because they associate the new product with negative emotions such as fear or anxiety. This can be overcome by using positive emotions such as excitement and joy when promoting a new product. For example, when you are selling a new car or computer, you should use phrases like “The new features of this computer will make your life easier” and “This car will give you the comfort you want.” This will help people associate the product with positive feelings and thus reduce their aversion to it.

  • Physical Barriers:

People tend to ignore advertisements if they are located in an uninviting place like a public place or on an uninteresting topic like sport or fashion. To overcome this problem, marketers must find ways of making their advertisements more interesting so that they do not get ignored by potential customers. One way of doing this is by going beyond just telling people what your product does and also telling them why it is better than other products on offer at that time.

  • Language Barriers:

Language barriers can include slang language, abbreviations, and unfamiliar expressions in both written and verbal communication. It often leads to misunderstanding and confusion, which proves unhealthy for a business.

The purpose of strategic communication is to increase the likelihood of success by creating an environment where people can share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions. Effective strategic communication occurs when all parties involved understand the message being communicated.

Four goals of strategic communication

1) To make sure that you understand what your customers want and need from you so that they can make informed decisions.

2) To ensure that you are communicating your message in a way that will be understood by your target audience.

3) To ensure that your messages have been received and understood by those who need to hear them most.

4) The last goal is to make sure that those who receive your message know how to act upon it and achieve your desired result.

Conclusion

A strategic communications plan acts as fuel to boost business sales and attract potential customers. It helps businesses communicate their desired message to their targeted people at the most appropriate times.

Thus, it is vital for businesses to adopt strategic communication to function correctly and get the desired growth and results in no time.
